Beautiful south western views across the lake

There really is nothing like summer in cottage country. The lakes are alive with activity, small cottage communities are bustling, and our schedules tend to be full, in spite of the fact that we are all longing for the “lazy hazy days of summer.”  The anticipation of time spent at the cottage with family and friends, enjoying all that this part of our unique heritage has to offer is totally alluring.  I see it as part of “the Canadian Dream,”  and as we approach Canada’s 150th  birthday, I’m excited to celebrate our uniquely Canadian cottage lifestyles.

In this issue, we are aiming to do just that!  We are sharing Gary’s family history by recognizing and honouring his great-grandparents who immigrated to this part of cottage country in 1867. We felt that this was the perfect time to share this serendipitous occasion and hope that it will cause you to think about your family history and the memories that have contributed so much to shaping who we all are as Canadians.  We are also sharing information about the uniqueness of buying rural property and the importance of working with local professionals who truly know the nuances of cottage country; terrific seasonal wine and spirit choices to entertain and celebrate; and, important information about marine insurance to protect yourselves and your vessels on our extraordinary lakes and waterways.  Sit back and explore our exceptional Phillips Team Luxury and Featured listings, along with a terrific variety of cottage country listings for you to peruse. At the back of the magazine, we have expanded our “buy and sell” section to include an assortment of boats, snowmobile and recreation vehicle trailers, and parts and accessories – those items that we all need to assist us to enjoy and enhance our cottaging experiences.

There is just so much to be thankful for as we celebrate this fantastic country this summer. Be sure to take some time to reflect upon how wonderful our country really is, and how amazing our area of cottage country is for visitors, cottagers, and year round residents alike!  Be safe this summer and know that Gary & I, along with our valued contributors are all wishing you a safe, healthy and happy summer season in cottage country. We will be raising a glass to you all on Canada Day! Cheers 🙂
