I’m always happy when summer arrives. I love the hot weather, seeing my cottage friends, entertaining in our community, and most of all – I love ripping around Georgian Bay in my boats! Yup, I’m a boat guy through and through. Karen always laughs at my logic when it comes to boats. I happen to think that when you are in cottage country (and our cottage is water access), that you need a boat for a multitude of applications – the work boat, the fun speed boat, the grocery getter, the tinner for fishing, a boat for our daughter’s “Nikki’s Cottage Care” business, …well, I think you get my drift. And so, that ’s why you’ll see that I’ve gone to our
friends at CH20 to feature used boats and trailers that are ideal for your cottage needs. We’ve also got some great editorials in this issue that we hope you will enjoy. Karen and I believe strongly in community and so the companies that we have in our magazine are companies that we support, endorse and promote for your cottage products and services.
Now, onto the real estate market. It has been hot! The spring was very productive in the Parry Sound district with May statistics recording record sales: 41% increase in Total # of Sales and 64% increase in Total Sales Dollar Volume over May 2015; and Total # of Sales YTD up 29% and an increase in 35% in
Total Sales Dollar Volume YTD in May 2016 (Parry sound & Area Association of Realtors, June 2016). And the trend is continuing as the Parry Sound market has remained active going into June. This season the market has been favourable for sellers as there are buyers for cottage country properties and the total number of listings in the district was down 15% YTD in May. Inventory is low! Food for thought if you are contemplating selling your property. This has also made it even more challenging for real buyers to purchase quality product – the good ones are sold quickly! My take on that is that it is all the more reason to have a knowledgeable, hard working Realtor (or team) working on your behalf. We’ve all heard the expression – “the early bird gets the worm,” and right now in cottage country, this is the case!
